On February 12, 2022 at the meeting of the Abendschone Chapter Daughters of the American Revolution, winners of the DAR Good Citizen Award and Scholarship Contest were announced. The winners were Kimberly Lozano Merida of Green Forest High School, Olivia Cross of Eureka Springs High School, and Eden Alyse Wilson of Berryville High School.

The winner of the essay portion of the contest was Eden Alyse Wilson with an essay entitled “Being an American Citizen.” She will be now eligible for Arkansas State DAR Good Citizen Recognition.

The DAR Good Citizen Award recognizes and rewards individuals who possess the qualities of dependability, service, leadership, and patriotism in their homes, schools, and communities. These students are selected by their teachers and peers because they demonstrate these qualities to an outstanding degree. Each school’s DAR Good Citizen received a DAR Good Citizens pin, certificate, wallet recognition card, and a monetary award.

The Abendschone Chapter NSDAR – abendschonedar.com – was founded December 3, 1951, in Eureka Springs, Arkansas. DAR is a nonprofit, nonpolitical volunteer women’s service organization dedicated to promoting patriotism, preserving American history and securing America’s future through better education.
